New Ps in Brooklyn!

Bianca Cazares
Team and Culture Coordinator

Our team is continuing to grow! We are excited to welcome several new Ps to the Brooklyn office. They bring their own experiences, skills, and wealth of knowledge to make our collective team better than ever. Meet the new team members, find out what brought them to Prolific and what they’ve been learning so far. Welcome to Prolific, everyone!

James McNally

Senior Manager of Business Development
Hails from: Northhampton, MA

What brought him to Prolific: I knew about Prolific before coming on board, from being in the industry. Dan, Devon, Bobby and Drew got me really hyped about the company when we first started talking, and I knew right away it would be a great team to join. Another key reason was Prolific’s strength and momentum in the lifestyle-driven retail space. Niche retail strategy and mobile commerce are things I’m passionate about and what I want to build my career around. Prolific is super well positioned to do more and better retail work, with more and better partners, and I’m excited and honored to be part of that journey.

What he’s enjoyed most about Prolific so far?
Everyone’s super cool! And when I’ve needed help on anything, people have been really proactive about stepping in and giving me expert input. Also, it’s clear that people really take the partner collaboration ethos and product-drive approach to heart – it’s not just something people talk about, but it’s evident in the day-to-day – and that is pretty awesome.

Jose Ramos

Product Manager
Hails from: Puerto Rico

What brought him to Prolific: As part of Dash, we worked closely with Prolific. I knew Prolific’s culture was very similar to Dash’s, and culture is one of the most important things a company can have in my opinion. I also knew that Prolific’s Product Management team was very strong and knowledgeable. The combination of these two things, and many other factors, made joining Prolific a natural transition not only for my own personal career growth, but also to help Prolific become even better.

What he’s learning in his role here: Roles aren’t boundaries. Specially as PM you are expected to do anything and everything at any point in time. And that is a good thing, not only to learn from all aspects of the team, but also to help that same team succeed. I’ve also learned that communication with the partner goes a very VERY long way.

Caleb Thill

Full Stack Engineer
Hails from: Kansas City, MO

What brought him to Prolific: I wanted to be at a company that works with various partners, and doesn’t just get a term sheet and build out the features the partners request. I love being involved in the process of discovering what makes a product great. Prolific calls our “clients” partners and works alongside their team to create an awesome product together!

What he’s learning in his role here: Expect the unexpected! Things can change so fast and it’s important to go with the flow and not be afraid of change. I’ve also learned more about our partners and their industry space, many of which I wasn’t familiar with before. For instance, right now, I’m learning about cosmetics and the beauty industry!

What he’s enjoyed most about Prolific so far?
I’ve really enjoyed the culture of the company and the people I work with. Everyone is smart, driven and really loves what they do. The constant challenges of the various projects are always interesting and exciting! Also, having a San Francisco office is fun when you have to travel there for a business trip 😉

Mike Domingo

Product Manager
Hails from: Millstone, NJ

What brought him to Prolific: I knew I wanted to join a company that puts their people first, focuses on collaboration and user experience, and most importantly prides themselves on making great products. A friend told me about Prolific Interactive and to check out their website. I quickly learned how aligned we were with our values.

Once I had the opportunity to speak with the team during the interview process, I saw that Prolific wasn’t the small startup that I had originally thought, but instead a growing agency looking to lead the industry in quality and user experience. However, unlike larger studios, Prolific still held those key elements that make working at startups so fun and rewarding. People aren’t afraid to wear multiple hats when needed, processes are guides that you can adjust depending on the situations, and everyone I interacted with showed drive and motivation to get things done right while still managing to crack jokes and enjoy each other’s company.

What he’s learning in his role here: I have been learning a lot from the company, teams, and processes here at Prolific but what sticks out most is putting aside your ego and doing what’s best for the product or the team. At times it can be challenging to throw out work and designs, or admit your hypothesis was wrong. Yet it is something I see teams do here without blinking an eye. They focus on iteration and a feedback loop from a wide range of users, stakeholders, partners, and teammates. It’s not about validating a person’s pride, but validating the right solution for the right problem.

What he’s enjoyed most about Prolific so far?
The best part of Prolific are the people. Having the opportunity to work with such a talented group of individuals has been amazing. They say quality is not an act, it’s a habit, and the team here at Prolific definitely has a habit of bring quality work to the table everyday. Not just in the big features, but also in the small details that let you know the people care about what they do.

Sarah Luvisi

Account Manager
Hails from: Louisville, KY

What brought her to Prolific: I have worked in fashion and golf primarily since I graduated from college but was feeling a little… bored. I would constantly reevaluate my career and found myself trying to create the perfect job with bits and pieces of what I enjoyed from past opportunities. I wanted a place where I could thrive creatively, where I felt comfortable voicing my opinions and those opinions were heard, and a fun environment with people who genuinely enjoyed getting up and going to work everyday. I took a risk after seeing a Facebook post online from another Prolific P and decided to reach out. So far, Prolific has been everything I wanted out of a fulfilling career and more.

What she’s enjoyed most about Prolific so far?
After only being here a few short months, I can definitely say the people are what I have enjoyed the most. Everyone here brings a different viewpoint and offers such value. I love how collaboration is so encouraged and everything is on the table for discussion. You can tell people are so personally invested in the work they do and that is contagious. It was important for me to work where the product was exceptional and the products Prolific creates really speak for themselves. This is really a direct result of the passionate group behind them.

John-David Brown

Product Manager
Hails from: Escalon, CA

What brought him to Prolific: I came to Prolific with a diverse background that ranged from working on antitrust cases for tech companies and crafting PR for big banks, to marketing a startup from infancy to acquisition and building communication products for a modern workforce. Much of the work I’d been doing in recent years was with productivity-geared enterprise technology, so one of the main things I was looking to do next was explore more consumer-facing products – especially in the mobile space.

When I came across Prolific, it was quickly obvious that I’d found the right fit. Not only are they a top-notch mobile shop that works with great brands, but the people they hire are super smart, super creative, and super motivated. When I stopped by for my interview, I was blown away by how excited everyone was about the work they were doing – their passion was magnetic.

What he’s learning in his role here: Since starting as a Product Manager, one of the biggest things I’ve learned has been the process of ongoing ideation with UI and UX designers. I’d always been strapped for design resources in previous jobs, so to be constantly working on brainstorming and developing new features and flows with designers has been a refreshing and enlightening experience. I love that Prolific encourages its employees to grow and continue learning at every level throughout the company.

Matt Varghese

Product Designer
Hails from: Sudbury, MA

What brought him to Prolific: I originally met the Prolific team more than two years ago, during my very first week at Rent the Runway. I was excited to come in and contribute on design and strategy for Rent the Runway’s 1.0 app, but first I had to figure out what this Brooklyn team was all about.

I was mostly quiet during our first meeting, but at the end I grabbed Prolific’s team and pressed them to walk me through some of the design decisions they had made. I knew I was challenging them on a lot of discussions, arguments, and conclusions I hadn’t been a part of, but I wanted to get a sense of how good they were and to see how much of a voice I could have as we got closer to launch.

Things could have very easily gotten tense — they could have thought, “who does this guy think he is?”, but the Prolific team handled it with aplomb, serving up an equal measure of diplomacy and earnest dialogue. That moment set up an awesome partnership for the next few months where we had immense respect and trust, and both sides were able to collaborate and deliver something that we’re all still touting as some of our best work.

That’s exactly why I’ve kept in touch with Chris and Pat over the last couple of years, and why it was such an easy call to sign on. At this point in my career, I know what’s most important to me: I want to work on projects where best-in-class is the expectation, and I want to do it with awesome people who also happen to be great at what they do. That’s not just a nice-to-have at Prolific, it’s a core philosophy that drives everyone here.

Joe Donenfeld

Product Analyst
Hails from: Santa Monica, CA

What brought him to Prolific: I saw a group of incredibly talented designers and engineers challenging themselves to produce work that brought legitimate value to people, and I thought, “I want to be a part of that.” I immediately got the impression that Prolific didn’t sugarcoat it, they work hard, build thoughtful products, and let the work speak for itself.

What he’s learning in his role here: I’ve learned how to work closely with designers and engineers, the importance of speaking up when I notice a blocker, different mobile strategies used to acquire and engage users, and how to work fast and efficiently.

What he’s enjoyed most about Prolific so far?
I admire how the team at Prolific constantly challenges its current process to build better and smarter. I admire my coworkers for working relentlessly to bring value for our partners and their business, but also the end users. Everyone here loves what they do and has a tremendous amount of fun doing it.
